A Mother's Concerns For The welfare Of Her Children - Every Living Being ( CONTD....... )

Of all languages prevelant in this Karma Bhoomi she had selected 'Tamil' as the medium of her teachings and the place from where she composed the Tirupavai was none other than the Pandiya Territory where Tamil Sangam flourished. The cool soothing southern breeze known as the malaya marutham-malaya pavan emanates from the podigai Hills of the western Ghats in the pandiya kingdom and blows over all other parts of Bharata Varsha comforting peoples with its sandal paste fragrance and cool mountain air, the Tirupavai composed by Sri Andal has had commentaries written by the Acharyas of Chola Desam, furthur spread through the efforts of the great Ubhaya Vedanta Acharyas- Sri Nathamuni Sri Ramanujar and Sri Vedanta Desikar.

The Tirupavai spread even furthur North, due to the enthusiastic efforts of Sri Krishna Devaraya and others like him.NOW IT IS UP TO US TO TAKE THE THE DEVINE MESSAGE THROUGHOUT THE LENGTH AND BREATH OF THE GLOBE.

We can and We will as the will of
 THE DEVINE COUPLE be DONE.

Sri Periyavachan Pillai Sri Nanjeer, Sri manavala Mamunigal etc had written commentaries on Tirupavai. Sri Natha Munigal retreaved the Tirupavai from oblivion. Sri Ramanujar came to be called 'Tirupavai Jeer' due to his affinity for Tirupavai. Sri Vedanta Desika composed 'Goda stuti' in praise of Sri Andal.

Apart from Tirupavai Sri Andal had also given us the collection of Devine verses known as "Nachiar Tiru Mozhi".The Nachiar Tiru Mozhi reveals her love and affection for the Lord. In this physical world there is nothing more invigorating, intense, all pervading and obsorbing than the love between a female and male which makes them abandon everything except crave for the union. Almost every human being, male or female by nature knows this fact. Our poorvas have by composing the Devine Nalayira Divya Prabhandam Pasuram Verses in the Nayika Nayaka Bhava had intended that every being must show 100 times more intensity of the love craving to attain the Ever lasting Bliss .

As soon as her task - work on Earth completed (Tirupavai and Nachiyar Tirumozhi having completed)Sri Andal merged with Sri Ranganatha at Srirangam even as Sri Alarmel Mangai rests in the Heart of Lord Srinivasa having been carried in a palanquin from Srivilliputhur as per the Lord's command.

Sri Bhooma Devi (Thayar) thus, apart from giving truth to us, and providing us all means of living in comforts-food, shelter, etc has also shown us the path towards salvation, taking the Andal Avathara and giving us the Tirupavai and Nachiar Tirumozhi. The Veli Andal Sannidhi at Srirangam is the place where she rested after her long journey from Srivilliputhur, took bath in nearby Kaveri dressed herself as it behoved the Devine Bride. It is in the south west end of the West Adayavananjan Street. The temple is big. The Moolavar and also the uthsavar moorthy are in sitting position as the bride sits awaiting the groom. The Serthi Uthsavam(marriage festival) an annual feature had been in vogue but discontinued due to various reasons. The same is explained elsewhere in this book under the Heading 'Essay on Historical Background'.

For the Devine Avathara of Sri Andal and her works we must take on us the tasks mentioned below:-
  • Recite Tirupavai daily and spread its message of universal peace and brotherhood.
  • To keep maintain the temples at Srivilliputhur and Srirangam-places where her physical presence.was felt.
  • To get restarted the ThiruKalyanam of Sri Andal Sri Ranganathar (serthi) festival and make it an annual feature.
  • The uniqueness associated with Sri Andal is that while all others - gods, and men receive the garlands of the Lord, the Lord receives Sri Andal's garlands giving her the title 'Soodikkoduthal'. In accordance with this practice Srirangam temple authorities must make arrangements for Sri Ranganatha to wear Sri Andal's garlands to be brought from Srivilliputhur.

Let us pray to the Devine couple for realising our sankalpam- wish to feast our eyes by witnessing the Thirukkalyam-serthi ( Marriage Festival ) Utsavam of Sri Andal and Sri Ranganatha ( Srirangam).
